About the Live Event

NewCity Church, in collaboration with the Foundations for Racial, Ethnic and Religious Harmony (Harmony Foundation), Northland Development, The Village Bank and The Southern New England Ministry Network (SNEMN), is hosting HOPE IS RISING – a free drive-in concert event designed as a safe space for people of color and allies to recharge and be inspired.

Enjoy listening to a live band with special musical guests, celebrate the Black culture, and listen to a panel discussion, “My City and Me," moderated by Rev. Devlin Scott with panelists, Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, Newton Police Department Chief David MacDonald, Newton Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Bruce Apotheker, METCO Specialist and Newton Public Schools Teacher Katani Sumner, and members of Newton’s Coalition of Black Residents.

Our Role

When Pastor Devlin Scott approached Another Age Productions about live streaming this event, we were in and really looked forward to this shoot as a way to test our live streaming and technical capabilities. While on the surface this was a simple shoot – two camera, a switcher, and audio being taken from the sound company, we had to make sure our live streaming backpack was programmed and ready to go, and our stream was being feed to Vimeo, Facebook, and the church’s website. When the church’s computer was having technical difficulties connecting to the large LED monitor that served as a backdrop, we had to troubleshoot using our various adapters to make that connection happen. With this event occurring with a parking lot, power had to be taken from our van which has a power inverter. Quieter than a generator for sure. And to top it off, we had to contend with 90 degree humid heat, and always making sure we were social distanced and our equipment sanitized. Overall, the production went off without a hitch and the client walked away happy with our contribution.
