Heroes Around Us is a new, half-hour monthly magazine-style television program that presents the true stories of ordinary people who perform extraordinary acts of heroism in their communities.
Hosted by Josh Binswanger (former WBZ-TV anchor & cable network host), the pilot episode intruduces us to:
- Lenny Coppenrath, a Massachusetts State Trooper, who has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the MA Special Olympics during it’s annual “Over the Edge” event;
- Dr. Michael Rocha, a cardiologist from New Bedford, MA, who is transforming the health and well-being of his patients by creating the New Bedford Wellness Initiative;
- Emmett Folgert, Executive Director and Founder of the Dorchester Youth Collaborative that provides a safe place and mentorship opportunities for Dorchester’s at- risk youth, and;
- Jackie Colby, a 92 year-old volunteer and one of the early organizers of the Newton Food Pantry.
